For the first time in Canada, a province has taken a stand against non-therapeutic de-clawing of cats. Nova Scotia announced it will be part of a world wide campaign against declawing.
The Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association has amended its code of ethics to make elective and non-therapeutic declawing ethically unacceptable. According to the website declawing.com, declawing cats is serious surgery, and cat nails are not like our toenails.
