A presentation on the draft integrated site plan for the Kingsway Entertainment District has flung the door wide open for possibilities and discussion.

Cumulus Architects presented to council a glimpse of what the development could look like which included ideas of a two pad arena, a form of an outdoor maple leaf square and engaging local arts.

Those were all ideas formed in public consultation sessions.

Paul Szaszkiewicz, Principal of Cumulus Architects says these are just early images but he has never seen a project come together as quickly as this one.

A few councillors had questions about parking, but the majority like Ward 7 Councillor Mike Jakubo, commended staff and Cumulus Architects for the quick work.

One councillor who may not have been to impressed was Ward 1’s Mark Signoretti, who had questions over locations and how the infrastructure for the casino and hotels was going to be paid for.

Residents will have the opportunity to comment on the site plan until November 6th, online or at open houses.

Council will see the final integrated site plan November 22nd.
