The Sudbury and District Health Unit are warning the public about potential blue-green algae at a number of Bell Park beaches.

Water samples are being taken from the Main Beach, Amphitheatre, New Beach, Canoe Club and Bell Grove Beach.

As a precaution the health unit has posted signs advising the public to avoid swimming, drinking the water and allowing their pets in the water if a bloom is present…if there is no bloom the water is safe to use for recreational purposes.

The city is working with the SDHU and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to monitor the situation.
