L-U's President Sitting on the Committee To Help Choose Which Canadian Woman Will Appear On The New Bank Notes

The decision on which iconic woman will appear on Canada’s new bank notes in 2018 will have input from Greater Sudbury.

The president of Laurentian University Dominic Giroux is on the seven-member advisory council that will come up with the short list of 3 to 5 names to be submitted to the Governor of the Bank of Canada.

Giroux says it’s an outstanding opportunity to be involved.

He says so far thousands of people have gone to the Bank of Canada web-site and nominated more than 120 different women…the one criteria, the women have to be deceased for at least 25 years.

Friday April 15th is the last day to get your nomination in.

The Bank of Canada has been around since 1935 and the Queen has been the only woman to appear on our bank notes.
