When the War Memorial Site in Coniston was vandalized less than a month ago, it became a rallying point for the community.

In the beginning of May the site which honours those from the community of Coniston who lost their lives in the first and second world wars, was vandalized with over three thousand dollars in damages(shown above).

Kirk Langdon with the Coniston CAN and Memorial Committee says they will look to put up a camera, but that can only do so much, education will be key in the prevention of similar incidents.

Langdon was really pleased how different community partners jumped on board to refurbish the site, which was unveiled yesterday at a dedication ceremony which was attended by many community leaders including the mayor and chief of police.
