Queens of the Stone Age have called off their European tour as Josh Homme needs to return home for emergency surgery. While the band has not disclosed the specifics of the surgery, Homme revealed in 2023 that he had successfully undergone cancer treatment. In a statement issued this morning (July 9), the band said, “QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery. Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”

Queens of the Stone Age released their latest album, In Times New Roman…, last July. Their scheduled North American dates this fall have not been affected by the initial cancellations. Pitchfork has reached out to the band’s representatives for more information.
