Legendary musician Neil Young has shared some unfortunate news on his website, citing ongoing health issues and an abrupt end to touring. Last month, Young had already postponed shows in Chicago, Austin, and Dallas due to illness. While the tour was scheduled to resume on July 8, the band members have not fully recovered, leading to what Young describes as “a big unplanned break.”

In a heartfelt statement, Young expressed his gratitude and disappointment:

“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far. GREAT AUDIENCES AND MUSIC. WE HAVE HAD A BLAST! When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break. We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience …. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse… Neil, Micah, Ralph, and Billy. Love Earth.”

The cancellation impacts several major events where Young was set to headline, including the Bourbon And Beyond and Ohana festivals. Replacements for these performances have yet to be announced.

Young’s decision to cancel the tour is particularly poignant given his initial reluctance to return to touring post-COVID. In 2022, he announced he would not be performing at Farm Aid, citing safety concerns during the pandemic. “I am not ready for that yet. I don’t think it is very safe in the pandemic. I miss it very much,” he wrote at the time.
