Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance at the Roll and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday night (11-3) to honour his hero, Link Wray.

The 79-year-old legend initially appeared on screen with a pre-recorded message talking about how Wray’s instrumental of “Rumble” inspired him. He said, “As a 14-year-old kid who could barely play the guitar, it really had an effect on me.  The vigour and the strength and the power in it.”

After the video, the audience was surprised to see him live on stage as he played the song in tribute to the late guitarist/songwriter.

It had been eight years since Page last performed in public.
