My niece is living in England right now.  She from Sudbury and I called her and her fiancé Steven, who is a British citizen, to find out what it’s like to live there during this moment in history.  Queen Elizabeth ll died last Thursday, and Dayna and Steven were shopping when they heard the news.  Really great perspective on what’s going on around them with the people who grew up with the Queen as their Monarch.

The Queen’s funeral is on Monday, September 19th, and as Steven said, people are already camping out along the procession route to pay their respects.

While we in Ontario will not have the day off in mourning, Premiere Doug Ford says anyone who wishes can take a moment of silence at 1 pm to honour the longest-serving Monarch in British history.

No word yet on when the coronation of her son, King Charles lll, will take place but he has already taken over his Mother’s Royal duties and moved into Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace as it looked the night mourners gathered after the death of the Queen.

The portrait of the Queen as appeared on all electronic billboards and signs in England moments after her death was announced.
