In 1985 when Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters left the band to pursue a solo career, he expected that Pink Floyd would be no more. David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason thought otherwise.

It did mark the end of their relationship as a band and began a feud that is still alive today. Waters tried to sue the remaining band members in 1986 to prevent them from continuing to use the Pink Floyd name without him, which Waters himself admitted was a mistake.
