This is crazy.  My husband is a handsome guy and I don’t want to mess up by butchering his hair.  But, one of the side-effects of this COVID-19 physical distancing is that none of us can go get our hair done.  I talked to my hair stylist and he said “Mellaney, do not cut your own hair!  Just let it grow.”  That’s okay by me although my roots are making me want to wear a ball cap all the time.

As for my husband, the time is now.  So Chris and I called for some advice on pandemic haircuts from Jimmy the Barber from Collective Haus on Elm Street in Sudbury.  Here’s the interview we did with Jimmy this morning with some good tips and tricks on cutting someone’s hair.

I have the feeling we are going to be more grateful than ever for our hair stylists when we are finally reunited!

And, more advice from Jimmy the Barber…

Here’s the clipper I was talking about:

It’s the exact same as the Wahl Magic Clip for half the price.

https://www.amazon.ca/Scissors-Professional-Hairdressing-Thinning-Stainless/dp/B07QMCMP3Q

Use the thinning shears at the end of the hair to texturize and blend out imperfections. GO EASY WITH THEM. Most men do not need their hair thinned, it does that on its own.

I do honestly think that growing it out and playing with different styles, a buzzcut (6mm or shorter), or a “parade trim” is the way to go.

PS: work with the persons head at eye level if you can.
