There’s a lot out there about the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, and some of it is true and helpful, while other information is not accurate and intended to stir things up. That’s the internet. So we sourced information from Public Health Sudbury and District for the medical low-down on this fast-spreading flu-like illness.

Symptoms to watch for:
-Coughing
-Shortness of breath
-Fever

If you show up at the doctor’s office or clinic, you will be asked about your travel history including the countries you visited. If you need immediate medical attention, call 911 and tell them your travel history and symptoms.

Coronaviruses are spread mainly from person to person through close contact in a household, workplace, or health care centre.

You can reduce your chances of getting this and other viruses by WASHING YOUR HANDS! And not just a quick little spray of water…use soap and warm water and get in all the cracks. Stay HOME if you are ill.

FOR PARENTS OF SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN: Check information about the protocol in schools here.

It’s also a busy travel season with March Break coming up so check on Travel Advisories here.

We know this seems like a lot and it’s not intended to scare you…just prepare you. Here in Canada the chance of being hit with coronavirus is low right now. Let’s keep it that way by taking the few steps mentioned by Public Health Sudbury and District.
