Survival Guide: CP Holiday Train and Sudbury Wolves Game

It will be another busy night in downtown Sudbury Friday, December 29th with two major events happening pretty much at the same time right across Elgin Street from each other. So, if you’re prepared, you’ll know where to park and not be surprised when you get there. And, if you plan, you can go to BOTH events!

The Sudbury Wolves are hosting the Barrie Colts on Friday; game time is 7:05. Still some tickets available for a great night of hockey, and don’t forget to get your 50/50 tickets in support of the United Way! The parking lot across the street from the train station to the Bridge of Nations will be blocked off for the arrival of the CP Holiday Train. That means if that’s your preferred parking location for the Wolves game, you should arrive early and plan on alternate parking.

The second big event happens right across the street at the Elgin Street CP station. It’s the 20th anniversary of the CP Holiday Train in support of the Sudbury Food Bank. This year, the parking lot will be clear (except for the Food Bank truck!) to allow more pedestrian access to the stage of the Holiday Train. Cash and non-perishable food items will be accepted on site to help feed almost 11-thousand people every MONTH in Greater Sudbury.

There’s a free concert by Scott Helman, Madeline Merlo and Vishten, and donations are being accepted for the Food Bank. CP always makes a cash donation to the food bank and that money goes directly to buy food. Each dollar donated can purchase $6 worth of food so this is very beneficial for the SFB. The CP Holiday Train will roll into the Elgin Street Station about 8:50 pm and the concert is slated for 9:15-9:45 pm. If you aren’t in the spirit of Christmas yet, you will be after this!
