When you see someone stranded at the side of the road or in a parking lot, be careful before that Good Samaritan in you kicks in. Greater Sudbury Police say the Road Side Scam has been reported in Greater Sudbury twice in the past two weeks. Here’s how it works…someone flags you down saying they have run out of gas and don’t have any money. They offer you “Gold” jewelry as collateral which they’ll exchange for cash with you. The jewelry is fake and the “stranded” motorist isn’t really stranded at all. Police advise if you do stop to help someone get the license plate number, and description sof the vehicle and driver, and any passengers.
