21 Laid Off By Vale

Vale’s Sudbury Operations have laid of 21 employees.

16 Millwrights and 5 production staff were those affected, all were members of the United Steelworkers local 6500.

President Rick Bertrand says they will be taking action.

The company has released a statement saying the layoffs were due to Ontario operations and industry as a whole suffering.

It says the original number had been 280 surplus employees but they were able to reduce that number to 21.
