Premier Kathleen Wynne will take the stand when Gerry Lougheed Jr. and her former deputy chief of staff Pat Sorbara go to trial in September.

Wynne says she won’t invoke parliamentary privilege to avoid testifying and will go along with the process and testify as a Crown witness during the trial.

Pat Sorbara, her former deputy chief of staff, faces two bribery charges under the Election Act, while Liberal fundraiser Gerry Lougheed faces one charge.

They are accused of offering a would-be candidate a job or appointment to get him to step aside in a Sudbury byelection in favour of Wynne’s preferred candidate, Glenn Thibeault.
