If it can be deep fried, there’s a good chance you’ll see it at fairs and exhibitions across Canada this summer. The menu for the Calgary Stampede makes me think you’d have to have some kind of cast iron stomach and digestive system to try this stuff.
Here’s what’s for dinner:
Deep fried Jell-O cubes, deep fried lemonade and deep fried chicken feet — which are served on a stick with honey mustard or ketchup.
Would you try chili-infused lemonade? Troll Pops are apparently the big hit in Calgary this year…bright blue Popsicles wrapped in pink cotton candy….my teeth hurt thinking about it.
Ice cream…oh yes, how about a scoop of unicorn cookie dough, with sprinkles and marshmallows mixed in?
There’s Deep Fried Pork Bellies, and the metre-Long Sausage, Canadian Bacon Pickle Balls.
And, the world’s hottest pizza…with Carolina Reaper Peppers…that’s one of the hottest peppers out there! extract and puree. They make one 8-slice pizza a day and then draw names to see who gets to try it. If you can eat a whole slice without drinking water, they’ll give you $50! Staff at the Calgary Stampede did a test run and no one was able to eat their whole slice.
It’s like eating Pepper Spray. Incapacitating.
Whatever happened to good old corn dogs and fires?
