Laurentian University’s President, Dominic Giroux is leaving the campus for a job just down the road.

Giroux was named the new President and CEO of Health Sciences North and their Research Institute.

He says speaking with staff when he starts will be key to determining what direction the hospital will take in the future.

Giroux says it was tough leaving the people at Laurentian, but this is an exciting chapter in his life.

He has lived with his family in Sudbury for the past eight years and says, while he had offers outside the city, it was important to him and his family to stay where they now call home.

Giroux will begin in October and takes over for Dr. Denis Roy who will retire at the end of June.
