Former Edmonton Oiler Ryan Smyth has moved on to Senior Hockey and now plays for the Stony Plain Eagles. After scoring a goal in game one of the 2017 Chinook Hockey League Final, he was hit by a vicious Lacombe Generals’ Kyle Sheen elbow.

After laying on the ice for several minutes, Smyth was taken to hospital after the game for tests and to make sure he hadn’t suffered a skull fracture.

He received stitches in his mouth and was able to go home to his family the next morning. Doctors will be reassessing him over next few days.
