President and Vice-Chancellor of Huntington University, Kevin McCormick was presented with the Knight, First Class of the Order of the White Rose of Finland, considered one of the highest honours from the government of Finland.

The Ambassador of Finland to Canada was in town to present McCormick with the honour for the creation of the Canadian Finnish Institute of Canada.

McCormick says one person received the honour but it was the work of many that made it possible.

The CFI was created aimed at highlighting the contributions of Finnish people to Canada and it provides programs, scholarships and a number of conferences.

McCormick joked that his friend reminded him it doesn’t come with a suit of armour.
