New Democrat M-P Charlie Angus has stepped aside as his party’s caucus chair and indigenous affairs critic to contemplate a potential leadership bid.

The 54-year-old northern Ontario M-P says he’s considering entering the race to replace Tom Mulcair at the helm of the N-D-P, a contest that doesn’t come to a vote until next October.

British Columbia M-P Peter Julian recently stepped down as the party’s House leader to consider a leadership run, but he hasn’t officially entered the race.

Angus remains the MP for Timmins-James-Bay.
