The Rainbow District School Board wraps up their public meetings at local schools as the decision date for closures and consolidation nears.

A number of Sudbury area schools are on the chopping block after a shortfall in provincial funding and over the past three weeks the public have had their say.

Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas says when trying to get answers at Queen’s Park in turns into finger pointing between the government and the school board.

Gelinas says health units are talking about the negative effect school closures have on small communities.

She is still optimistic the schools can stay open.

Sudbury Secondary School will play host to the final public meeting tonight at 6pm for the Central Sudbury Planning area, which includes a possible closure of Lansdowne Public School.

A special school board meeting will be held on December 12th where the public can make presentations for the final staff report.

February 7th is when accommodation reviews will be decided.
