Can you “gas“ what caused a fire at a Tokyo hospital earlier this year? That’s right: a fart. According to a newly released incident report, a patient in her thirties was undergoing laser surgery at Tokyo Medical University Hospital back in April. There, when “the patient’s intestinal gas leaked into the space of the operation [room], it ignited with the irradiation of the laser and the burning spread, eventually reaching the surgical drape and causing the fire.“ The female patient reportedly suffered severe burns from the flames, which really blows.
