Talk about a blast from the past! Smash Mouth, everyone’s favorite ’90s-era pop-punk band, took to Twitter last week to slam the Oakland A’s for trading outfielder Coco Crisp to the Cleveland Indians, where he’s become a World Series hero with his timely pinch-hitting. “The A’s are a joke, good for CC!“ the band tweeted on Thursday, prompting the A’s to reply, “Insulted by Smash Mouth? #Pfft.“ Oakland relief pitcher Sean Doolittle then chimed in with some Smash Mouth song puns. “’Why Can’t We Be Friends?’“ Doolittle tweeted. “Last year was rough, but ’I’m a Believer.’“ The A’s then went all in on Smash Mouth’s has-been status, tweeting at the band, “Guess you’ve got it all figured out. Except how to make a hit since 1999…And you have no fans. They all graduated college 18 years ago and grew up. Do the same.“
