“Hey Chris, I have an interesting scenario for you.

I called the bear line to see if anyone could pick up an orphaned bear cub and I was told to call Wild at Heart (which I volunteered at for 7 years) because it was considered a “rescue”. Wild at Heart was told by the Ministry that under no circumstances are they to trap bears or they will lose their license.

So they called Brent at the MNR and he said “no” he will not rescue this baby bear.

Then I hear on the news how the MNR rescued a bear in someone’s crab apple tree in Chemmy I think. They make it sound like they are doing it regularly but in fact are refusing to pick up these cubs (at least 4 in the city).

Someone should get their story straight because these little cubs will not survive the winter. We are trying to trap this one ourselves in a dog cage. (Pic Below)”
