It looks like city council will make a final decision on a fire permit in the end of May.

Council had approved a 50 dollar fire fee for residents to generate around 10 thousand dollars in revenue, but council backed away saying it was not set in stone last week.

It was all part of project 6 million, and 50 dollars would cover the first time permit, with a 25 dollar renewal each year.

There would also be a 10 dollar fee if someone wanted a one week permit.

Fire Chief Trevor Bain presented to council last night and says some municipalities don’t even allow fires, period, and a fee is normal across the province.

Bain also says they would do a site visit to determine where a fire pit should go but they would not need to do an inside the home inspection unless the owner wanted one.

At a May 31st meeting, council will have the opportunity to say no to the proposed fees.
