Reaction is still pouring in after party members at the national N-D-P convention in Edmonton voted to hold a race to replace Tom Mulcair as leader.

The weekend convention revealed a deep divide within the party in the wake of the N-D-P’s distant 3rd place showing in the fall election.

Rank-and-file members at the weekend convention voted 52 per cent in favour of dumping Mulcair.

Chad Machum, the president of the Sudbury N-D-P Electoral District Association says the membership has spoken.

The party has up to two years to hold a leadership convention.
