March in Fraud Prevention Month….a time to raise awareness about how not to become a victim.

There are several active frauds in the area, the most common continue to be with those trying to pass themselves off as representatives from the Canadian Revenue Agency and Sudbury Hydro.

Greater Sudbury Police Detective Constable Dan Zembrzycki says people are falling victim to the high-pressure tactics.

The best advice….never give any personal information like PIN numbers or bank account information out over the phone.

Across Canada between January and November 2015 the dollar value loss to victims of fraud was $61.3-million.
