Mell will be live on location at Churchill Public School to help kick-off the event 8-9 am.
This is the second annual Rainbow Kids Helping Kids Day, which is part of the Rainbow District School Board’s annual efforts to support the Kids Helping Kids Christmas Food Drive in memory of Edgar Burton.
Last year, Rainbow Schools collected more than 178,000 food items,” said Director of Education Norm Blaseg. “This year, our goal is to collect a total of 200,000 to support individuals and families in the communities that we serve.
Rainbow Schools have been awarded the coveted Kids Helping Kids torch for most food items collected six times over the past seven years. Churchill Public School brought in 28,267 food items in 2014 and was awarded the first place torch at this year’s Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive kick-off event on Friday, November 13, 2015.
The Sudbury Food Bank feeds 16,400 people every month…almost half of those are children.
