The Transportation Safety Board has sent investigators to the town of Spanish to look into a train derailment that sent 13 tanker cars and three locomotives off the tracks.

It happened late last night when the 77-car Huron Central train was traveling westbound…about 100 kilometres west of Sudbury.

Eight cars were carrying limestone slurry, while five were empty.

A media rep with the rail company told the Q-92 Newsroom no dangerous goods were spilled or released into the environment.

Along with the T-S-B, Huron Central Railway is conducting its own investigation into the cause of the derailment.
