The union representing public elementary school teachers says it began escalating work-to-rule job action this week because it hasn’t heard anything from the province about resuming negotiations.

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario says the Liberal government and school boards abruptly broke off talks two weeks ago.

President of the Rainbow ETFO Local, Barb Blasutti says they’re just not getting the same amount of face-to-face negotiating time as the other teacher’s unions.

She says other teacher’s unions have received at least 18 face-to-face negotiating days while ETFO has only been given 11.

ETFO president Sam Hammond says elementary teachers’ will start one-day rotating strikes if there’s no tentative agreement within two weeks.
