The longest running match-play tournament in Canada is back as the Idylwylde Men’s Invitational Tournament enters its 68th year.

The match-play tournament draws in amateur players from all over Ontario, Canada, the United States and even as far as New Zealand.

Tournament Chair Robbie Coe says aboout 70 percent of the field is from out of town, so it boosts the local economy.

Coe says the talent history is a draw factor for the tournament.

For Jay Jewett this is his 10th time taking part and he says there is no better format than match-play.

Jewett says it helps the amateur golfers prepare for the events like the Canadian and US amateurs which use a similar match-play format.

The tournament begins with a practice round on Thursday before the real deal on Friday morning, with the finals going on Sunday.

The defending champ Kyle Rank will be in the field.
