There may be more visual “pollution” at municipal soccer pitches, ball fields, outdoor rinks and playgrounds around Greater Sudbury.

City council has given staff the go ahead to solicit advertising contracts for banners to be posted along fences at recreation facilities.

Councillors want to generate as much as $250,000 in revenue over the next year.

The idea is meant to help pay back some of the money the city took from reserves for this year’s budget.

A progress report on the advertising venture will come back to council early next year.
