It’s been a tense in Timmins where an armed man kept police at bay in the city’s Canadian Tire store.

Timmins City Police says they responded to a break-and-enter call at the store around 4:30 this morning.

Surrounding stores were evacuated and some area roads have been closed.

Police confirm one person is inside and know the person has a long gun.  They don’t know the identity on the person and believe the person is still in perimeter.  Police are also able to in real time look into the security cameras inside Canadian Tire.

Inspector Mike McGinn also says  they don’t have the resources to tackle this type of situation.  When they realized there was a firearm they called for assistance.

Officers are also canvasing houses by government road and talking to nearby residents.

Meantime…Police aren’t saying if this incident is connected to the search for two people wanted for murder in the GTA.

Unconfirmed reports say the two have been spotted in various cities in Northern Ontario including here in Sudbury.

Police say 36-year old Clyde Marshall of New Brunswick and 27-year old Sabrina Chouart of Gatineau, Quebec are on the run, and believe they have been hitch-hiking north.

The two are wanted on a first-degree-murder warrant in the death of a man, whose body was found in a Toronto apartment building on Friday.
